Woodturning is the oldest form of machining Timber.  Dating back some 1,300 Years BC to Egypt, it was considered the quickest way to produce finished pieces of Woodware, Handles, Bowls, Plates & Spindles for Furniture.  Now we are using Electrically Driven, Variable Speed Lathes.  But you can still find in areas of Africa and India where small communities are still using methods of Woodturning that date back to these times.
